Italian Antonio Cairoli keeps the fight for the MX2 Title open
Philippaerts adopted the same way of thinking and is the third rider in the World Championship standings; in Desertmartin he has to make up for the unlucky second moto of Namur but talking of bad luck there is someone who is definitely having a worse time. It is 2005 Desertmartin GP winner Tyla Rattray, having debuted in the AMA motocross series in Millville (Minnesota) the 13th of August but having left the track with a dislocated shoulder: he crashed because of a mechanical problem to his bike. America is also Christophe Pourcel's goal but the young Frenchman will stay in Europe also in 2007 to race another MX2 season. Next year he will race also in America before moving there with Kawasaki; this is his actual plan after the French rider has signed a three year deal with the Japanese factory. Marc De Reuver can be another tough challenger in Desertmartin, where he grasped second overall last year. The Dutch rider can pump his scores up before home Grand Prix in Lierop next weekend and before a new 2007 MX1 season. He will not be the only one moving up to top class; also Sebastien Pourcel and Billy MacKenzie will be on MX1 machines next year, both with Kawasaki: Seb, winner of the 2006 French Elite Championship, will stay in the GPKR Team while Billy inked a one year deal with the Team of Jan De Groot.
Anyway 2007 is still three GPs far from being reality, or even 4 GPs if we count the Motocross of Nations which will be on in Matterley Basin the 24th of September. And Desertmartin is the closest event with a spectacular Irish scenery around it. 63 km away from Belfast, Desertmartin is very close to Lough Neagh which is the largest freshwater lake in the British Isles.
